Chelsea Piers is hiring a temporary Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our CP Kids team starting immediately. This position has potential to convert to a permanent position. This role reports to the Director of CP Kids and works closely with the teaching team and entire CP Kids staff. The Assistant Preschool Teacher will work Monday – Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM.
As the Assistant Preschool Teacher, you will be expected to:
- Play and engage with children while modeling appropriate language and social interaction
- Help children gain independence and self-help skills
- Run, play, and be active with students
- Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a teaching team to help plan and implement curriculum
- Build relationships with families and work with parents to help them grow and be able to answer questions (i.e. potty training, sleep, etc.)
- Be responsible for the safety of students both inside the school and out in the neighborhood
- Interact with parents and students in a professional manner both verbally and via email and other online channels
You are punctual, dependable, nurturing, and passionate about working with preschool age children. You are comfortable working collaboratively and possess strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior experience teaching children 3-5 years old preferred
- Excellent references
- Have a strong understanding of the development needs of young children
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to stand on one’s feet or long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
